Lynn Carter, Director

Lynn Carter has been a long serving member of the Greater Vancouver Community Social Services Society Board of directors. She served as Board Chair for many years until September 2015 and then served on the Executive Committee and other ongoing and ad hoc Board Committees. Lynn has over 30 years’ experience in the social services and educational sectors. She has worked at Langara College since 1982 as an Instructor and Chair of the Social Service Worker Program Work Department. She is also President of the Langara Faculty Association.

Lynn has worked in other social and educational areas including child welfare, education, professional regulation, and positions with various government organizations and commissions including the Ministry for Children and Families; the Gove Commission of Inquiry into Child Protection; the Board of Registration for Social Workers; and Family Services of Greater Vancouver.

Ms. Carter’s education includes a BA from the University of Wisconsin, MSW from the University of British Columbia and post graduate studies in health policy from the London School of Economics.

Ms. Carter’s volunteer background includes appointments as Chairperson, BC Benefits Tribunals; Chairperson, Vocational, Rehabilitation and Disabled Persons Appeals; and Member, Panel Roster of Complaints Division, Children’s Commission.
