Community Outreach

RainCity Outreach Team

The RainCity Housing Outreach Team works in the community with chronically homeless individuals, many of whom are living with mental illness, addiction, and other challenges. The Outreach Team’s goal is to help break the cycle of homelessness, instability and poor health experienced by people living outdoors.

The outreach team works collaboratively with all referral agencies and service providers to ensure clients receive broad community support.

Eligible referrals include people who:

  • Are experiencing homelessness/high levels of repeat shelter use.
  • May have a formal mental health diagnosis, or, if their mental health status is unclear, a mental illness will be strongly indicated.
  • Use substances.
  • Reside in the Downtown Eastside.
  • Will have complex needs that require intensive outreach interventions.

Referrals can be made by phoning (604) 254-3727. The team recognizes that the solution for homeless individuals with concurrent disorders is a coordinated and comprehensive response from the community, and they work closely and collaboratively with all referral agencies and service providers.

The RainCity Outreach Team is a partnership project funded jointly by Vancouver Coastal Health, Service Canada and BC Housing.
